The recent hot spell seems to be doing the sweet potatoes the world of good. They seem to love the heat and the humidity. Who knows how they will turn out. The blue berries are ripening gradually which gives a punnet or so every couple of days. The average price of a punnet is 4 euros at the moment so they are very welcome. We've had several meals of great spuds and the courgettes are goregeous. A couple of days ago there were enough peas for a feed too. The Asparagus peas are an interesting new crop though not brilliantly tasty.
Both pear and apple trees are developing fruit well though we'll need a wasp trap very soon so I can be sure that they will make it to maturity.
The old strawberry patch is at an end and we'll be clearing it pretty soon. The purple potatoes are still in full flower with big white blooms against the deep purple stems. The cabbage patch is looking healthy with black kale at long last next to the purple sprouts and purple sprouting brocolli. All we need is a bit of rain!
